Job Title: Medical Secretary/Receptionist

Hours: 32 hours over 4 days between 8am to 6pm

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, honest and reliable Medical Secretary/Receptionist to join our small, friendly team on a part time permanent basis, this will be subject to completing a successful probationary period.  Ideally, you will have experience of working in a GP surgery or hospital administration setting.

  • You will be required to meet and greet patients with a friendly welcoming manner, be able to multi-task and remain calm under pressure.
  • This role requires excellent communication.  The ability to work both on your own and as part of a team is vital.
  • Fantastic attention to detail and a focus on getting things right first time are essential.
  • The role will include dealing with administrative queries from patients & clinicians, arranging appointments in person and by telephone plus giving test results and messages to patients.
  • Other administrative duties are also required eg processing prescription requests, patient registrations.
  • An ability to audio type is also required. Experience of medical terminology would be distinctly advantageous.
  • Additionally, appropriate signposting to other services is also required.
  • The practice uses the Vision clinical system and docman, experience of these is desirable but full training will be given to the successful candidates.  Good IT skills including Microsoft applications is required.
  • It is vital that the successful candidates will be able to provide additional cover during annual leave or other staff absence.

The working day is between 8am and 6pm; working days are by agreement with the team. Pay rate is per hour minimum wage appropriate to age up to 12.37 depending on experience.
