Responsibilities are first point of contact for triage (pre-treatment assessment) of minor injuries and illnesses also running clinics for minor injuries and ailments, treatment of minor injury procedures, prescribing and self-help advice.
We employ 2 practice nurses who carry out many routine consultations with patients (e.g. cervical smears, blood pressure checks, asthma, diabetes and healthy heart checks, travel immunisations, HRT, contraception checks, etc.)
Please do not attend the practice nurse for acute problems.
We have a primary care clinical pharmacist and also a practice care pharmacy technician working in the practice one day per week to help with medication reviews, audits, ensuring medicines safety etc
We have HCAs working in the practice. Their main duties are taking bloods, doing ECGs, spirometry, BP checks, New Patient checks, BMI.
Administration staff provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Administration staff make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
A health visitor is a registered nurse who has received training particularly related to babies, children and pregnant women. Their role is to provide families with children under five years old with support and advice around the general aspects of mental, physical and social wellbeing.
